Homeless Outreach for Students in Transition

HOST is a non-profit organization dedicated to help college students who are struggling financially and are food and housing insecure so that they can stay in school and graduate. This is a program of students helping students!

 Homelessness in American Colleges

According to a recent survey by the H.O.P.E. Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, of over 167,000 students in colleges across America, 39% students faced food insecurity in the previous 30 days, 46% were housing insecure in the previous year, and 17% of the students were homeless!

H O S T USA

Our mission is to provide free food and emergency housing assistance to students in need. Our job is to bring awareness to college officials, government authorities, student unions, faculty, and the public in general to the fact that the problem of college students facing food and housing insecurity is real, and the numbers are growing…

Food Programs

Since 2013 HOST has organized food drives and created the first food pantries at both, San Diego Mesa College, and the University of San Diego.   It is our goal to expand our food pantry program to more colleges in the region and ultimately to own our own food truck where we can deliver free hot meals to students, no questions asked!

Emergency HELP

In collaboration with our strategic partners and government resources, we provide free food, help and support for students facing homelessness or food insecurity.  We support food pantries in colleges across San Diego and offer Emergency Cash to help pay for rent when funds are available.

All-age Volunteers Needed

Help is needed to pick up food from the San Diego Food Bank and food markets, deliver food to pantries in colleges across San Diego, and help organize food drives on college campuses.  We also need volunteers to help with fundraising drives and events.  Those interested should contact us, today!

Corporate Sponsorship

We are seeking the financial support of large, medium, and small businesses in the region to fund our programs and expand the scope of services to our young college students.  HOST USA (help for college students) needs the help and know-how of the community to address a very serious and growing problem affecting these young men and women that are trying very hard to get ahead in life!

Acción Marista

Outside the United States, it is our hope to bring emergency help to people in need in other countries. Whether it is by providing emergency food, medicine, or medical supplies we want to be ready to respond to the call for help from anywhere in Latin America, when possible.

We want to thank all the sponsors who collaborated and supported us during the year. The pandemic made our work hard and challenging throughout the year, and thanks to you, we were able to meet our objectives.
